Seen Him?

I had some down time at work so I started a new dialogue shot. I don't know if anyone reads this but if they do, tell me what I could do better. Pretty please...

Hi Brandon,

The shot looks great but if I were to nitpick there are a few things I might alter. Firstly, the red guy needs to look intently at the picture a bit sooner before he goes into his first line, at the moment it feels like he starts talking and looking at the same time. Secondly I'd maybe delay the dejected look on the yellow guy when red says "No" for a few frames just so you get the impression that the news has just sunk in. These are tiny things and do with the information what you will :)

Great work as usual,

Mat.

Yea, at least one person has come to my blog! Ha ha, thanks for the comments Mat. Great ideas. Good observations, I agree with you on those. I will make some changes when I get the time.

I would second that suggestion that mathew mentioned about delaying his dejection after hearing no just a bit.

looking sharp, man!

Hey Brandon! So glad to see you're keeping on side projects outside of work! I heard about you before I even started AM - now I'm loving it all. I'm in SLC too, so it's good to see a fellow Utahn succeeding. With the shot, I would like to see you try having the main guy leaning in earlier little by little when the guy takes the sheet out of his hand. Really build that anticipation and excitement. And of course, take a bit longer to let it out. Great stuff!

Awesome thanks for the comments! I will have a new version up next week.

Alexiss great to hear from you! Do yo animate? We are looking for animators at avalanche.

Hey! You did find me! And I do animate. Well, I'm working on it - working through the basics again at AM to work my way up again. Once I get a solid demo reel ready I'll have to shoot it your way. I don't know what's available at Avalanche but if there are any other jobs available, even the lower ones such as clean up animator or even clerical, let me know. Could be great to get a little step in. And hey, congrats on the spot in the winter showcase - great stuff!

Hey Brandon, This is looking pretty solid. Have you gone any further with it?

My only comment would be to try and get a bigger phrase change in the red guy before he says no. The thoughts are polar opposites and it would be nice to see him go from one to the other. To me the thoughts read like this.... "oh maybe I have seen him, and I can help you...to no I definitely haven't"
